Artist Information:
Radu Lupu, an acclaimed interpreter of the works of Beethoven and Schubert, launched a successful solo career after winning the esteemed Van Cliburn Competition in 1966 and returns to Washington this season after a 16-year absence. After Lupu's 2008 performance at Carnegie Hall, The New York Times critic Bernard Holland wrote, "Mr. Lupu manages to sit at one end of this sizable hall and fill it with color and clarity. There is no sense that he is trying hard to do so; it simply happens."
