More Than Notes:

More Than Notes concert preview at 6:45pm, led by Marilyn Cooley

More Than Notes concert previews are an exciting way to enhance your enjoyment and understanding of WPAS performances. This season, lecturers Ben Roe and WETA’s Marilyn Cooley will offer insights and comparisons between the performing artists in each of the following genres—Great Orchestras, Pianists, Vocalists, and Strings—in addition to further illuminating the written program notes.

More Than Notes concert previews are generously made possible by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Program:

Victor Kissine: New Work/SFS Commission (premiered in San Francisco March 4, 2010)
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto
Ravel: Valses nobles et sentimentales
Liszt: Tasso: Lament and Triumph

Artist Information:

"The San Francisco Symphony remains one of the world's most immaculate ensembles," says The Guardian. The brilliant ensemble is joined by German violinist Christian Tetzlaff, "a dependably excellent musician, always fusing brain and heart with racing fingers and a huge range of dynamics" (The Times, London).
